Today was spent doing research, knitting swatches, doing more research, knitting more swatches and occasional ravelry breaks. I have been hanging out on the Harry Potter House threads today, well mostly on the NQFY/SOS Lounge thread. Since I am not officially playing in the house cup this term I am just bumming around "the house." I missed sign ups this term which I was not planning on doing but think that it has worked out for the best since it is making it where I have no excuse to not finish my MHKL2 (Master Hand Knitter Level 2) work. I plan to have it ready for send off by March 1st. Then it should take about 8 weeks to get it back (maybe a little longer) So by the first of June I should be able to start revisions. Depending on how much I need to fix I may sit out the next term too.
So to finish my MHKL2 I need to:
- Knit Swatch 9
- Knit Swatch 10 (Which includes writing a pattern)
- Knit Swatch 11 (Which also includes writing a pattern, different from swatch 10)
- Knit Swatch12 (Once more we must write a pattern, it can not be the same as was used in level 1(though how they would know if it was or not is beyond me if you get totally different people))
- Knit Swatch 13 (Which will also need a pattern and research on cable flaring)
- Knit Swatch 14
- Knit Swatch 15
- Knit Swatch 16
- Knit Swatch 17
- Knit Swatch 18
- Make all swatch informational sheets that include no less then two references. (Which I will hopefully be doing as I knit most of my swatches. To be honest I like to make so many swatches then make their sheets and place into the binder after photographing it to post on ravelry)
- Fill out Gauge Worksheets
- Answer Questions 1-16 with at least to references for each answer given
- Do fair isle project (pattern given in instructional packet)
- Make argyle sock but do not seam up the leg (find your own pattern)
- Make vest (once more find your own patter or on this one you can make your own pattern)
- Finish Report edits
- Book Review 1
- Book Review 2
- Book Review 3
- Finish Swatch 7 (almost forgot that I had not seam that swatch up yet)
So 21 one things left to do 2 of them bigger projects not to bad if I can stick to my schedule, which I am already about four things behind so that is almost a day worth of work that I am behind. It is not looking good for my ideal finish time. But most of the reason I am behind is because I keep letting my Husband drag me out and about. Today he was at work which has allowed me to get a lot of work done. Tomorrow I have to work which limits what I can get done. If I can get almost back on schedule tonight then that means I may be only half a day behind that I can make up on the weekend when I am home all day. Next weekend may not be great for catch up but the following weekend should work out great for getting everything done that I need to get finished. I do plan on going to Park Avenue Yarns on Saturday while my husband is doing work stuff so I will work on my argyle socks while I am there. Which thinking about that if I finish my argyle socks while I am out knitting then it could actually put me ahead of schedule if I plan it all out right. This may need farther thought.
Today I have been researching short rows and have looked at two new techniques German and Japanese Short Rows. Along with researching about Three Needle Bind-Off (a new technique to me) and Kitchener on garter stitch. I have yet to knit both swatches that use these techniques so am not going to write about them much today but I will say for the Japanese Short Row that I have knit I really like the way it looks.
Also on a side note I will try not to write too often on my phone I looked at the last post I did and it was horrible, so sorry to my dear readers but when I am tired and posting off my phone I can not be trusted to make sense.
I am currently reading through one of the books for my review and will post a link to my goodreads review when I am finished with the book. I plan on making a larger more detailed review on goodreads. Unfortunately for the MHKL2 they require that the reviews only be about half a page, which I don't think gives the books any justice. Also once I get my report back with a passing mark I will post it here for you to ready if you would like. It is on the history of knitting. A very fun subject to research and also very frustrating to find real facts.
Well I am off to my corner of the interweb, which I think I should think of as the stacks since I am going to do more research. Not happy with the amount and type of references that I have for the German Short Rows off to find more.
